St. Kitts ~ Feb 2013!

We arrived just as the sun was setting and the moon was rising over the Atlantic. This is the view from our balcony at our amazing B&B: Rock Haven!

This is the view of the sunset in the mountains behind the B&B that eve.

Listen to a clip of the St. Kitts Crickets!

 Our Abode

Night Number 1: Dinner, open-air on the beach at Cathy's. (The BEST restaurant on the island!) Actually, we spent EVERY night on the beach in open-air/ al fresco dining, watching the sunset, and sipping rum punch (and Joel had his local Caribs!) Most nights were a "Cathy's Night". Loved it!

My 1st of the St. Kitts infamous Rum Punch, and Joel's 1st local Beer; We are now officially on "Island Time"! :)

We were welcomed with a warm sunset. Someone knew I was coming?!

Some friendly people we met at our favorite beach bar & restaurant - Cathy's~

The MOST amazing lobster EVER! They KNOW what they are doing here... The meat melts in your mouth; Tender, juicy, and seasoned just right! LOVE.

Our view looking down over the Marriott at the base of the hill along the Atlantic coastline at night.

 HELLOOOOO Moon!

The doors to our little home-away-from-home in St. Kitts- and our fresh flowers & tea straight from the gardens!!

Our WONDERFUL hostess and new-found friend, Judith. The universe served us well in bringing us together during this adventure~

The gorgeous home of our gracious hosts, Judith & Keith

Literally a view from every window: Gardens, Ocean, or Mountains...

 Our outstanding cook, Beverly!

Some of the natural surround ~

 Master-Gardener, Richard! EXCELLENT work~

View from our balcony by day!

Variety of palms right in the yard~

 Edibles everywhere~

 Friendly visitors~

Our BARE feet - in the tropical GRASSES!

 More of that surround....

 Follow the flora...

We dined al-fresco on gourmet goods every morning; Two courses, beginning with fresh local fruit each day. Mmmmmmmm~

More of the Surround... Color, color, color!!! Oh how I've missed you, color.

 Another Lizard to greet us.

Onto our first exploration! Stay to the LEFT, Joel ;)

South Peninsula. This is the overlook as you begin the journey onto the South Penn. The Atlantic is to the left, and the Caribbean is on the right. It's a twofer! YUM.

See that secluded beach with the waves crashing like crazy? I'm determined to find a way to it...

And - we DID! A little twist on "Our Shot"

 Love!

 Look out!

 Teehee...

Had this beach to entirely to ourselves. <heart>

More on the South Penn.... Gonna "Live De Life"!!

 Cockelshell Beach?? Hmmmm....

Havin' ourselves "a Lime"! (Relaxing, enjoying, spending time with one another, via islander-speak!)

 Don't be such a crab~

Beauty everywhere - - flowers in the sand :)

This water was so amazing. Love the coloration~

 More fantastic sunsets ahead!

 Yep... Limin'. "Our Shot"!

Another amazing meal. Tried so many cool things! This was the Snapper. Fresh & Delish.

Drying off in style at the abode.

The next day we met our new friends, Shannon & Andy, for their fantastic honeymoon shoot! Romance, laughter, ocean waves, sunset, moon-rise, candle-light; This shoot had it ALL! And we couldn't be happier to have been given this opportunity to meet this amazing couple in such a fabulous location for the first time. We kind of adore them :)

These were just a few faves from the shoot!

We meet again! Joel and I gathered with Shannon & Andy for tea in the morning at Rock Haven, compliments of Judith and her divine garden herbs! Then, we spent the day exploring more of the island together. Woot!

 Enjoying the view...

Enjoying that TEA! (Shannon & I are both growing these herbs in our homes now so we can enjoy this tea regularly again!!)

 Let's have a LIME!

The Black Rocks. The volcanic rock + sea colors & waves crashing = absolutely stunning scenics~

Hey... How'd you get down there?

The boys - climbing among the rocky shore. Quite the hike!

This doesn't do justice to the 'cliff' that they (and later Joel and I) climbed down to reach the base of the rocky shoreline for a closer look!

Our shot - Black Rocks! Oooohhh... See my pretty amber dragonfly? Thank you Joel for this fab souvenir! XO

Ottley's Plantation - Rainforest Trails~

 Lizard in the light-post.

 Just look at the magnificence

"THE TREE" (Part 1) (My favorite tree!)

Look at how the roots grow above the ground, along the hill!

 A BABY "The Tree"; Awwww~

 Bamboo!

 Cabin in the jungle!!

 Amazing Peeps!

Aw - thanks for the pic, Shannon!

 The Inn

Rockin' pines intermingled with these palms!

Some goats en-route to our next destination!

 Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park!

Joel and Andy admiring the old-school heavy artillery.

Teehee... There were roughly about 8 cats sitting near this sign. Gotta love it!

 Monkeys in the wild!
*(Pretty sure Joel took each of these shots from the car window)

Sprat Net. VERY good fresh seafood! (Cathy's lobster is still #1 though.)

That boat above, is filled with these catches of the day!

 Limin'!

 SUNSET - WOOHOO! (Love.)

Thursday Nights are hoppin' on "The Strip"... Especially at The Shiggidy Shack.

Bonfire & a Brew... THANKS to a nice lady for taking this shot for us!
Check it out... I finally figured out how to tame the mane in the humidity: OIL. But this was no complaint. I'll take my need for hair grease, along with the consistent 80+ degrees and ocean-air - and run with it!!!Yes sir~

Local kids in costume dancing to the drums!

The infamous FIRE MAN!It's getting hot around here~

Love the abstract appeal of this one...

Fave photo of Fire Man, (#1)!

Fave Photo of Fire Man, (#2)!

Joel and I just had to make another trip to the Black Rocks. Had the place to ourselves; Could have sat there all day listening to the waves crash and watching the beauty unfold~

The sun was 'different' on this day (I think the placement/ time of day) - as the colors were much more saturated!

And, the WAVES were crashing much harder and higher ~ Bonus.

Love.

We hiked down to the base! :)

YES! Was waiting for that shot. Okay, Joel... Now we can go. ;)

Hahahaha! My fave sign. Rise & Shine, Carib Beer time!

Some local flavor among the villages ~ LOVE all the color!

 Romney Manor; More history preserved.

Gives you an idea for the size of some of these plants~

THE TREE (Part 2!!) (400 Yrs old)

Joel looks rather ant-like next to this.

More local homes along the routes to and fro our must-see hot-spots.

Joel got this shot of the donkey :)

On our last day - we ventured back to this overlook to take it all in one last time before our departure. Couldn't have timed it better. We got to see a WHALE out off of the Atlantic side - spouting, jumping, rolling, dancing. What a way to conclude this journey!

Sunset from the plane on our way home. We'll DEFINITELY be back again!
