First - I'm so grateful for my friendships with my Girls (Both Myla & Adelyn)!
Myla and I had a blast shopping for her prom dress. I was excited and honored that she really wanted to have the traditional "dress shopping experience" with her mama. :D We had a super fun day of it - and have made some fab mother-daughter bonding memories!
She and Marcus both attend alternative school situations... She does online school, and he (just prior to his recent graduation) was home-schooled. Myla wanted a "prom" type of experience, although neither was interested in a traditional prom experience. So - she asked him to go to "prom" with her - a fun night out on the town with a meal and some kind of unique event. Marcus happily obliged, and he came up with their entertainment for the evening, while she selected the restaurant.
He found a CANDLELIT ORCHESTRA playing in Uptown at the Granada Theater!! (Didn't even know that existed!) Props to him for something so unique and memorable - and red-carpet worthy - since they were dressed as such!
Of course - I took photos of the two of them on prom day as well - and am thrilled with the results! I hope they enjoy them as much as I have been! I'm posting these top-faves here, so they can then share with whomever they wish. They were taken at Minnehaha Falls prior to dinner.
Marcus has been an amazing guy to get to know, and Joel & I are so happy that the two of them compliment one another so well and are so connected. Can't say enough good! (They remind us of us when we were their ages - and wow - quite a few parallels exist between their experience with finding one another and ours!) They are both blossoming into beautiful young adults with huge hearts, big creative talents (much of which they share in common - such as video production & related activities), and genuine enthusiasm for life! They recently celebrated 2 years together already!!
On dress shopping day - we wound up finding "the one" immediately - lolzz! Actually - at that stage it was still between the first 2.... But we were looking forward to a fun day - so we (ad)ventured on and had them hold "the one" for our inevitable return! Many of the others we tried had something missing.... They simply weren't truly her in some way. But we had a fab time of exploring and spending the day together! We also found shoes & her handbag. We then headed over to The Good Earth for lunch and made our way back to "the one". ;)
Now for the Red Carpet Roundup!
